Like any tool, it can have both positives and negatives. We found that it's good to establish "how's" and "why's" to use Yammer versus other communication tools (IM, Email, Phone, etc.) But with the right context, I think Yammer can be useful. I think the potential for real-time collaboration with Yammer in terms of Project Management is huge. It's quickly being adapted by many large companies (for instance, Discover Card is now in the process of implementing Yammer.) It will be interesting to see how these tools evolve and if we become overloaded with too many ways to communicate! I think Yammer is a great product that has ability to improve communications and create transparency by virtually making company’s structure flat. I work for LADevelopers Inc. (http://www.ladevelopers.com) a California based software development firm. We specialize in custom Yammer solutions for enterprise and know this product inside out. Please contact us if you need any help with it. Hi All!

Sounds like a cool tool and I know you aren't one to "yammer on" about the latest and greatest tool lightly. I'm already excited and I barely know what the tool IS. Awesome collaboration awaits! BTW - love the new site! You added twitter feeds, looks great. I need to do that as well. -Raven I hadn’t heard of it before but will definitely look into. I think LiquidPlanner has taken this idea to the next level with a similar Twitter/Yammer type commenting feature within its project management system. I tried out Yammer a few months ago, but would have liked to have an easy way to associate a comment with a project or task. So, LiquidPlanner does that, you can post at many different levels within the project and team as a whole. I think it's excellent the way these social media tools are becoming integrated into project management....I feel like we've come so far from the flat, isolated MS project. It's like the twitter you actually need to use, now we are looking at integrating into our project management software, TeamworkPM.net. It's the one area I feel we have been missing in our product, the whole social interaction side. Yammer has been great for us asking questions and letting people in the office know what your working on. I have to say I'm turning into a big fan of Yammer it's a great app, plus I have it on the iPhone and the desktop client. (which are both great) Hopefully we will make progress soon with adding it in. I just came across Yammer myself in the last few weeks and we have been using it away in the office.
