One of my project blogging friends, Bas de Baar, has begun a compilation of his posts that he's calling the Project Shrink Linear Edition version 0.1. It's an unbook. I don't know if Bas is calling it that, but he's creating it in that way. I'm a big fan of his thinking and his writing. Bas hits the nail on the head when he says, "Projects are about humans."
Projects are about humans.
You'll like his writing. He mixes personal experience with stories and just enough philosophy to be interesting, but not boring.
He's made a good start compiling his blog posts into chapters. I particularly like Flexible Mind, OODA: Individuals Interacting and Adaption in Projects. Bas shows his distinctive views in these three chapters.
- Chapter 1: Introduction
- Chapter 2: Project Sociology
- Chapter 3: Social Groups
- Chapter 4: Flexible Mind
- Chapter 5: Complex Adaptive Systems
- Chapter 6: Social Networks And Game Theory
- Chapter 7: OODA: Individuals Interacting
- Chapter 8: Resilience
- Chapter 9: Panarchy: Complexity On Multiple Levels
- Chapter 10: Adaption In Projects
How many more chapters will there be? I don't know. Keep checking in.
The Project Shrink Linear Edition is currently available for free. I don't know if that will continue. In any case, if you're not a subscriber, then I encourage you to do so. While you're waiting for this book to come together, check out his last book, Surprise! Now You're a Software Project Manager.
